We have made it back to . Yesterday we weren’t sure we would. The heat may have won. It took us a long time to turn it around after our pass and when we got in to go we made it maybe 5 miles before we had to get out. It was just too hot. We made the decision to find a hotel right there, we slept about 6 hours got up at 1am and did the drive then. Pulled into Joliet at 7am. 😃🙌🏻. The weather is much cooler today and we are ready to do this thing!!!!!

Had a slight mishap with an oil line this morning on the way to the track. Nothing major and got it fixed first thing when we got to the track. We are 3rd in our class which puts us in the impound lot. That makes it nice because impound has its own staging lane so don’t have to wait quite as long in line. You know you’ve been driving in the Midwest when you have what’s left of a bug on your grill and its leg is the size of a small toddler. 😂. Our pass wasn’t exactly what we wanted but it was faster than our 2nd pass yesterday so we are taking it and turning the car around. It’s going to be another long hot drive today so we are turning it over and going to hit the road. If any of you has ever wonder what it would feel like on the surface of the sun, I will volunteer my seat in the race car on a 255 mile drive through corn country so you can experience it for yourself 😂.

Our 2nd pass of the day went better than the first. Sometimes that’s all you can ask for. The drive down to St Louis was long and hot but we made it to the hotel. Tomorrow is supposed to be a scorcher of a day at 97° and after the race another 200+ mile drive back to Joliet.

We had both made an agreement yesterday that if our time was in the single digits we would hit the road because we have an 8 hour drive ahead of us today. Yeah. After this pass when he got back to the pits we just looked at each other and started getting it ready for another pass. No way we are turning in a 9 second time slip.
