This is why I haven't installed an OBX or any other knock off L*D since 2007. This is from a D17 I built a couple of years ago. The owner was having many issues with the trans so shipped it to me. Mini Coopers are cool. D Series are cool. This is cool.

D16Y8 transmission for a customers D16Z6 Mini Cooper he's building. It received a Synchrotech carbon master build kit, MFactory 3.083 1st gear, MFactory helical L*D and MFactory 3.1 final drive. Simple build that will be a blast in a tiny car with tiny wheels.

This is my first time sharing a non-Honda build. They don't happen often, but when they do, I do them the same way.

It's a Mk VII Ford Fiesta ST 6-speed transmission. They're very different from Honda transmissions and not unlike some pickup truck transmissions being that the gears are a press fit onto the shaft instead of using splines.

This was built a couple of years ago and parts were hard to get. Some bearings have already been discontinued by Ford and had to be sourced from Europe, some parts had an insanely long backorder and some I just had to have made in the end.

It got some new OEM gears, selector sleeves and detents, all new bearings and seals, an MFactory helical L*D and Synchrotech 1-6 carbon-lined synchros.

It recently came back through after breaking the retaining tabs on the OEM reverse synchro and got an upgraded design carbon-lined replacement from Synchrotech.

Here is a K Series in case you're getting tired of seeing D Series builds. Drag Cartel AWD billet case, MTM Gears custom 1-4 straight cut synchronous gear set, MTM Gears custom straight cut final drive, Syncrotech carbon master rebuild kit, stock 5th gear retained for highway cruising, MFactory FWD/AWD helical L*D, Translab 6th cuff and Translab billet transfer case blockoff plate (not pictured).

This is for a FWD street/strip setup and can be converted to AWD in the future with a simple rebuild adding in the transfer drive gear without having to change the case or differential.

D17's don't get very much or any love from most companies. Here is a customers EX trans. The trans originally had an OBX L*D in it that had extreme wear along with some shifting issues. Since the customer is boosted and making some power we went with a custom MTM Gears 3-4-5 gear set, MFactory helical L*D, Synchrotech carbon master rebuild kit and an Action Clutch twin disc.

Both 3-4 version of this MTM Gears gear set and two different ratio MTM Gears final drives are in stock with no wait time.
