On July 8, 2026, Americans will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by reading it together across the nation. This event aims to unite citizens in a shared reflection on the principles of freedom and democracy that the Declaration represents. Participants from all 50 states, five territories, and the District of Columbia will join in this historic reading, echoing the original public reading from 1776.

Jim Thompson will be leading the reading on our stage at 6pm tonight if you’d like to join!
