I am astonished by the recent behavior of our local sheriff's department. As a business, we have consistently demonstrated courtesy to the department. However, today, amidst the chaos of people moving campers and children everywhere, a patrol car recklessly disregarded our rules, disobeying speed limits and failing to stop at signs or the office. Upon calling to express concern, the dispatcher was unprofessional and rude, stating there was no apparent reason for their presence and that the officer was merely conducting a patrol. When I questioned this, I was instructed to contact Lieutenant Warwick, and upon asking the dispatcher's name, he identified himself as Massie, cautioned against misspelling his name, and abruptly terminated the call. What has happened to our sheriff's department? Can they justify entering my place of business without a valid reason or emergency, disregarding our rules, and expecting me to maintain the property at my own expense, including the $14,000 I recently paid for stone upkeep?
