Last night just as it started to storm. I didn't film the actual height of it.

Picture of the week! Thank you.

For my next trick, I will make a video explaining all the benefits of why you should always keep to the right of a winding tributary or lake body while navigating and how the law applies. LOL

I always find it crazy when I post something regarding safe boat operation, the rules and why things are set up like they are, some people always call me out, complain or outright say they will do as they please.

All of the navigation Rules of the Road were written over a century ago and updated a few times over the years and are basically followed internationally. They were written as the basis of law for avoiding collisions on the water. Every state boating law is derived from the Navigation Rules Of The Road.

The simple fact is, the way the Rules are written - if followed - there would be no collisions. They are pretty well just black and white.

Obviously, it's a free country and you can do as you like, but at some point it might be nice to follow along a little for the good of us all. I mean I certainly don't want to cause someone else harm. Not sure why anyone else would.

NO DOCKING LIGHTS UNLESS YOU ARE ACTUALLY DOCKING!!!

They are not headlights. They are illegal to have on just cruising around. Only the red/green and overhead lights are on when navigating.

Same goes with all the colored LED lights. Illegal.

Want to get pulled over, inspected? Go ahead and have the illegal lights on.

Always proud to display the flag every time we're out and about. Happy 250th.

It's been a relatively busy week leading up to the 4th Holiday, so I thought I'd post about the standout issues as you come to the lake.

It's obviously hot and humid. Fuel v***r locking issues are numerous. If your boat is susceptible to v***r lock, you need to be using ONLY non-Ethanol recreation fuel in it. The alcohol in regular car gas allows it to boil in the fuel lines in a hot engine compartment and v***r will not pump, so the engine will not run or stay running.

You also need to idle your engine 5-10 minutes before shutting it off to remove excess heat and then park with the engine hatch up on inboards to let the compartment breathe.

There is a bunch of debris east of Conley Bottom, especially Waitsboro upstream in both the Cumberland River and the Big South Fork River portions of the lake. We towed a boat yesterday near Pitman Creek that had the outdrive broken off from contacting a log.

Saturday afternoon will be a peak traffic day on the lake, so expect delays. Understanding and combating v***r lock issues helps to keep us available to boater's that are truly stranded.

Sober boat drivers ONLY. Coast Guard is riding with the Fish and Wildlife and with the Corps Rangers this weekend. They are targeting navigating under the influence as part of the national Dry Water Campaign.

Thanks and be careful.
