Hi, I’m Gary Brown, owner and operator of Gary Browns Custom Restorations. I have been in business since September 1982. The shop began as a quality oriented body repair and paint shop. From 1982 until 1996 our primary business was doing body repair and high quality paint jobs on Datsun Z cars. This type of work lay the ground work to expand the business to do high end restoration projects on vari

ous forms of classic cars and trucks as well as muscle cars and vintage race cars. We also build custom street rod projects of all types and designs, fiberglass or steel. It is very exciting to be involved in so many types of builds and we consider each a work of art. We have been very blessed to operate our business through the years solely depending on our work and previous customers to be our advertising vehicle.

This is a project we have been working on for a while. Many thanks to my dear friend McGrath Keen ( Detroit Garage) for allowing us to be involved in his projects. Kim Ryan gets the credit for the small block Ford stroker build and setting up the driveline. Also, thanks to Jeff Ensslin ( Ensslin Racing ) for coming up one Saturday and bringing us the correct input shaft for the Lenco Trans and giving his expert advice on setting up the clutch assembly.

This is a 69 Corvette ZL1 tribute car. There were only two ZL1 Vettes ever built. Our customer decided on the Hugger Orange with the original ZL1 Black Stripe. Car is getting an all aluminum 427 with Tremec 5 Speed. The car will be back in shop in about 3 months for completion. My brother Pat gets the credit for the beautiful paint and body work. Pictures do not do this car justice, it looks liquid. The body was cleared twice ( about 7 coats ) Stripe is buried under clear. A lot of wet sanding and buffing to make it look like this.
