Robert Earl Brown, known best as “Bob”, age 84 of Moniac, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. A native of Fort Gaines, Georgia, Bob was born on July 7, 1941, the son of Charlie Toms and Sarah Mildred (Naramore) Brown Toms. He would proudly serve his country in the United States Army.
Bob was a long haul truck driver for many years, team driving with his wife Candy, they were known as “chicken haulers”. In these days of trucking, Bob and Candy were known for their speed and ability to drive for long distances at a time. Away from work, Bob enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter. He enjoyed collecting guns and bows he used for hunting. He also had a love for motorcycles and hot rods. His later years were filled with love he shared with his grandkids, great grandkids, and great great grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Candy Brown of St. George; children, Sonya (Jean) Caton of Louisiana, Scott (Tonya Lee) Brown and Lora (Robert) Peterson both of Jacksonville, and Char-Marie (Jody) Jewell of Baxter; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy (Eric) Brown of Athens, Georgia, Ann (Greg) Smith of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and Robin (Paul) Toms-Richards of Lake Lanier, Georigia; as well as his faithful companion who never left his side, his dog Penelope.
Funeral services to honor Mr. Brown’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home with Rev. Grady Allbritton officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 18, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will take place at North Prong Cemetery.
