This is what happens when a ceramic coated vehicle meets a drive through car wash repeatedly.
The owner of this Jeep Gladiator bought it new and invested in a ceramic coating — which was exactly the right move. Then he started running it through automatic car washes and the finish tells the whole story. The brushes and chemicals in drive through car washes are some of the most damaging things you can put on coated paint. Swirl marks, fine scratches, and a coating that’s been compromised to the point it can no longer protect the way it was designed to.

A sneak peek inside something bigger than detailing.
This is the Reformed Image Detailing Academy — a one of a kind professional auto detailing training program held inside the Clay County Jail in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Hosted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department. Created and taught by me, Aaron Caldwell of Caldwell Detailing.
To my knowledge this is the only program of its kind operating inside a correctional facility anywhere in the country. We are teaching professional grade detailing skills to individuals who are preparing to reenter society — the same skills, the same standards, and the same attention to detail that built Caldwell Detailing into what it is today.

One of the caster wheels on my rolling cart started failing, so it was time for new ones 🔧

The after is here — this black Ford Expedition is back to looking the way it should.
Getting there took more than a quick rinse. A high alkaline cleaner broke down and stripped the overspray off the paint, and it took more than one wash to fully lift it without touching the clear coat underneath. A handful of stubborn spots held on around the glass, so we brought in 0000 steel wool to work them loose safely.
This video starts on the back of the SUV, right where the results really stood out, then moves into the fully completed job.
Real overspray removal isn’t fast, but done right, it’s completely safe for the paint and the glass.

This black Ford Expedition showed up completely covered in overspray.
A company staining wood for a nearby fence project let overspray drift straight onto the SUV — hood, roof, doors, glass, all of it. We got the call for an emergency removal before it had a chance to sit any longer.
This is the before video, walking the vehicle to show exactly what we were working with. The after is coming next, and it’s going to be a completely different vehicle.
Emergency overspray removal is one of the calls we get most — construction, staining, painting, road work, it all ends up on someone’s paint eventually. When it happens, don’t wait on it.
