It's towing time!!

Feeling Unsure About Your Brakes? Here's How to Tell!

Your brakes are one of the most important safety features of your car.

Ignoring warning signs can lead to major problems down the road (literally!).

Here are some things to watch out for:

Noisy Brakes: Hear a high-pitched screeching when you brake? That's your brakes' way of telling you they're getting thin. Don't ignore it!

Shaky Stops: If your car vibrates or pulsates when you brake, it could be a sign of warped rotors or uneven pad wear. Get it checked ASAP!

Pulling to One Side: This can indicate a problem with the calipers or brake pads on one side of your car. Don't keep driving - get it looked at by a mechanic!

Soft or Spongy Pedal: A brake pedal that feels mushy or goes all the way to the floor could mean there's air in the brake lines or a leak. Stop driving and have your brakes checked immediately!

Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry!

If you're experiencing any of these warning signs, take your car to Roy's Tire & Auto to get your brakes checked.

You'll be glad you did!

Here’s a solid checklist to make sure your ride is summer-road-trip ready:

1. Coolant Level & Radiator
High temps can strain your cooling system. Make sure the coolant is topped off and the radiator is clean and leak-free.

2. Air Conditioning
Driving without AC in summer? Brutal. Test it before you hit the road to avoid surprise sauna sessions.

3. Battery Health
Heat speeds up battery fluid evaporation and can cause corrosion. Get it tested and clean off any residue on terminals.

4. Tire Pressure & Tread
Hot pavement increases blowout risks. Check the pressure (including the spare!) and inspect for any signs of uneven wear or cracking.

5. Engine Oil
Make sure your oil level is correct and that it’s clean. Consider an oil change if you’re due—hot weather can be hard on engines.

6. Belts & Hoses
They’re prone to cracking and failure in high heat. A quick inspection now saves you from being stranded later.

7. Windshield Wipers & Fluid
Summer showers hit hard and fast. Check that your blades are in good shape and top off that washer fluid.

8. Lights & Signals
Long days still turn into dark nights. Make sure headlights, brake lights, and turn signals are all in working order for safety.

We aren't out of the rain just yet so be aware that rainy roads can get slick fast! 🌧️
• Slow down
• Headlights on
• Wipers up
• Don’t brake hard if you hydroplane
Give yourself extra time and stay safe. Sometimes waiting out the downpour is the best move.

Looks like the rain is sticking around for the next several days, and with school out, there’ll be more young drivers on the road. Let’s all take it easy and stay safe.

Remember: slow down, turn on headlights, use wipers, watch for hydroplaning, and give yourself extra time. If the rain gets intense, waiting it out is the best call.

There's going to be a lot of vehicles towing this Memorial weekend so we want to remind you again about having your brakes & shocks checked by a professional.
🚗💥 Towing with Worn-Out Shocks— or Worn-Out-Brakes is a Disaster Waiting to Happen! 💥🚗

Thinking about hauling that trailer with worn-out shocks? Think again! Bad shocks can turn a simple towing job into a white-knuckle experience. Here’s what can happen when you neglect them:
❌ Unstable Handling – Your vehicle becomes harder to control, especially when turning or braking. That trailer behind you? It might start swaying dangerously!
❌ Longer Stopping Distance – Weak shocks mean less traction, making sudden stops a risky game.
❌ Increased Tire Wear – Without proper suspension control, your tires work harder—resulting in uneven and premature wear.
❌ Bumpy, Uncomfortable Ride – Every pothole and bump in the road feels like a mini earthquake. Say goodbye to smooth travels!
🚨 Bottom Line: If your shocks are shot, you’re not towing safely. Get them checked before hitching up! Stay safe out there, road warriors! 🚛⚠️

Did you know? Leaving grass clippings in the road isn't just an eyesore—it’s a major safety hazard and can even violate Missouri Littering Statutes. Check your specific city or county code for exact ordinances.

Fresh clippings act like ice on asphalt, drastically reducing traction and putting motorcyclists and cyclists at serious risk.

Let's keep our streets safe and clear! Here are a few ways to be a good neighbor:

Direct Away: Always mow in a direction that blows the clippings back onto your lawn.

Clean Up: If clippings end up in the street, use a rake or leaf blower to move them back onto your property.

Protect the Drains: Grass washed into storm drains can cause localized flooding and water pollution.

Mulch: Leave clippings on your lawn to decompose naturally—it's free, organic fertilizer for your yard!

Mow responsibly and help us keep the community safe! ♻️

Are you ready to hit the road for some fun and adventure?
Towing with worn-out shocks isn’t just rough—it’s risky. If your suspension is failing, you’re putting control and safety on the line.

- Unstable handling
- Longer stopping distance
- Faster tire wear
- Harsh, unpredictable ride

Get your shocks checked before you tow. Don’t take chances.

know what to do if they ran out of gas on a 2‑lane road?

• Turn on hazards and pull as far right as possible.
• Stay inside the car with your seatbelt on.
• Call roadside assistance, a tow truck, or a nearby gas station.
• If you can’t call and it’s safe, signal a driver going your direction for help.
• Keep doors locked, windows slightly cracked, and use a reflective triangle if you have one.

Teach them now so they’re ready later.
