Apparently someone has found another way to hurt and offend people for No reason. Here is a heads up for everyone. There is a new hack on FB. It includes a hurtful phrase coming from you. It is usually very dirty and appears that you have written it. You will NOT see it, but your friends will. This creates many misunderstandings. So to all of my contacts, if anything shocking, inappropriate, or indecent shows up ,it's not from me. You may wish to copy this to your wall.

October 18-24 is “Teen Driver Safety Week”! More than 2,500 teens die in car crashes according to this article, but the number of teens that die every year is actually 6,000. From speeding, texting and driving, drinking and driving, distracted driving and simply being negligent. Please share this with your teen drivers and new drivers as well. The more aware they are of this, the possibility of them coming home safely are much greater! As parents of teen drivers, your voice matters more to them hearing about the dangers they are going to face when sharing the road with others!

It's hard to believe that Saturday February 1, 2020, Teen Driver Academy will be celebrating 10 years in Jackson, and making a difference in the lives of so many teens, young adults, and those who just want to learn to drive, no matter what the age. When it comes to being a safe and responsible driver, there have been so many to step up and learn all that they possibly could to achieve that goal. My students have come from Jackson, and the surrounding counties in West Tennessee, and let's not forget those who are here from other countries. It really amazes me as to where some of these students are from. I also started doing private driving lessons over a year ago, and I won't mention her name, but I had one student who drove up here from Corinth, Mississippi with her Mom to take private lessons before she headed off to college. She wanted six (6) hours of private lessons and they made the trip six times (one hour sessions) for the lessons. Both Mom and her daughter were satisfied with all that she was able to learn, and some tips that she was never aware of at all. It has been a challenge at times, but it has been worth every minute of time that I have invested in all of these students. I have in these ten (10) years, had nearly 750 students to come through these doors, and being certified as a third party tester, I have done 245 road tests (mostly students who came through the class) to date. I can also say that I have never had a student to fail a road test. Yes, they do make mistakes, but we all make mistakes whether we realize it or not. No one is a perfect driver, there's no such thing as a perfect driver. In closing, I'm really proud of the job I have done here at Teen Driver Academy and I hope and pray that I can continue for several more years before I have to give it up, or turn it over to someone else. There's one thing that needs to continue here, and that is to educate our young people on the safety of being the best they can be while behind the wheel. A great group of students in my June 24th class. They learned today how dangerous “drinking and driving” is, and how hard the “field sobriety test” can be. Let’s just say had this been a real test, they would be downtown tonight!

The month of April is "Distracted Driving Awareness Month! When most people hear about distracted driving, they associate that with texting and driving. We'll that's true, in fact texting and driving has surpassed drinking and driving, which today is still a big problem. However, there are more drivers today who have a cell phone and drive, than there are drivers who drink and drive. It's a big part of it, but, distracted driving can be anything. My definition of distracted driving is, "anything that takes your focus and attention away from your "DRIVING" is a distraction"! Ask yourself "Why are you getting behind the wheel? TO DRIVE, nothing else. Your goal should be getting from point A to point B without any distractions, whatsoever! Do you really want to be responsible for taking the life of someone, or possibly your own? Keep your eyes on the road, your hands on the wheel, and your head in the game! Be a SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE DRIVER! You are being watched and reported! The life you save may be your own!
