After working in the automotive industry for over 15 years, we know how important it is when working around electronics. The number 1 thing I see so many others do is spray buttons, spray around infotainment screens, then use a brush and blow with compressed air…. Then to top it off they make content doing it, thinking that’s the proper way.
Getting electrical components soaking wet is the worse thing a detailer could do, you can’t get all of that liquid out when you spray buttons directly.
This can lead to ruining connectors or switches, also a few days down the road the buttons can start to be sticky. Depending on the type of cleaner, spraying directly on trim can cause chemical burns which turns the panels white, if that happens the only way to fix it is by using dye or replacing the panel.
We use a damp microfiber to clean and then use a dry microfiber immediately after to wipe up any excess cleaner, this assures no excessive liquid damaging electrical components or causing any other damage.
Our way might take a little bit longer but we pride ourselves in doing a proper detail and making sure we use our knowledge to make sure everything works just as it did before the detail.
