We are always a getting asked “how much lift” should I do with X coilovers on Y vehicle, and most of the time the answer is 1.5-2.5” of lift.

It is rare that any coilover adds much more than 2” of travel even with the help of upgraded UCAs and other geometry correcting mods, with most offering less of an increase than that.

This means in most cases much more than 2.5” of lift will leave you with less down travel than stock which hurts ride and overall performance.

So by keeping it in that 1.5-2.5” range means you gain bump travel and clearance without a serious loss in down travel

We are the first to say that the 3.2 Live Valves are one of the GOATs, and if budget is limited most of us here at Shock Surplus would be pretty hot on a set of Performance Elites on our own rigs, the sweet spot for most of you is going to be a FOX 2.5 Performance Series IFP or HTO.

Where the 2.0s are amazing for what they are, any 2” body shock is going to have its limits, and chances are the 2.5 Performance Elite is outright overkill for most of your needs.

The 2.5 Performance Series is that perfect middle ground we think most of you need, offering the small bump compliance and overall plush feel around town and at lower speeds off-road that we have come to love from the 2.0s, with the extra big bump support, tighter handling, and additional stability with extra weight (sprung and otherwise) that the 2.0s are missing.

Not to mention in most cases they are only $200 more a corner when compared to 2.0 IFP coilovers and a few dollars less than the 2.0 reservoir shocks. They even seem to last longer for most people as well. Our Shocktober Sale is on now so we are slanging deals on Fox shocks all month long, so talk about a no brainer!

We are hoping to snag a set of these to test on our F-150 in the very near future, and will be testing them on our 6G 4Runner at some point as well so make sure to lock so you get to see just how good these shocks are.

The heat has finally subsided so we are finally back testing, so there are lots of reviews in the pipeline.

We just posted our review on the 𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙎𝙃𝙊𝘾𝙆𝙎 2.5s for 2019-2023 USDM Ford Rangers. Talk about a fun set up, and a great reminder why Kings are so popular

Next Friday we should be releasing our review of the FOX 2.5 Performance Elites on Jeff’s 3G Tundra which have been a hoot as well. Not the softest thing out there but it means you have the coverage for the armor that is really necessary to make these trucks actually survive the trail.

We are also working with ARB 4x4 Accessories - USA on snagging a set of BP51s to test right after because we think they are going to be the right high end option for the average enthusiast.

But long before that happens, we are finally getting dialed in on the updated and fixed Eibach, Inc. Stage 3Rs on our F-150. Looks like all of our complaints have been addressed so we are expecting great things. The parts go on tomorrow and will get tested out in the dirt very soon after, so expect that review to drop right after the Fox review on the Tundra.

After that it all depends on what arrives first between the OME MT64s and the Fox 2.5 Performance Series IFPs. Although we are always stoked to test anything from the birds boys, we are definitely hot to get the Fox 2.5s on to see if they are solution we were looking for that their 2.0s were unable to deliver.

And of course we are finally forcing Jeff to give up the Radflo Suspension Technology 500Rs on his 6G 4Runner. It’s hard to give up a set up that works as well as the Radflos, but we are still excited to see how our old favorite, the Eibach Stage 2 Kit, stacks up.

We also will be taking small breaks in between to release buyer’s guides as we have moved through each level of shocks, so it’s a killer time to locked in with us on all platforms so you don’t miss any of the fun stuff we get into.

The hype 𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙎𝙃𝙊𝘾𝙆𝙎 get is definitely valid.

When it comes to standard out of the box tuning they do a better job than most brands of setting you up with something that just flat out works everywhere which reliably makes them the safest choice for most applications.

You might find something that does a better job in certain areas but few, if anything else does as good as a job as a King with as little sacrifice.
