There are many reasons the Custom Yacht Service crew enjoys coming to work every day. A big one is the great, transient boaters we have the opportunity to meet.
This past September was no exception when our docks were graced by a visit from the Temesvary family who arrived on OliLuki, their Leopard 45-foot catamaran that was due for scheduled engine service.
Andy, Maki, and their two sons, OIiver and Lucas are live-aboard cruisers originally from California and now "living the dream" as the saying goes.

The Simple Grace of a Perfect Waterline

Much about the design of a fiberglass boat is developed around what is pleasing to the eye; from the obvious, such as a vessel's profile, to the sometimes not-so-obvious- the establishment of its waterline.

CYS update on yard operations.

Dear customer,

Since my last week's update to you regarding the Corona virus, additional information and guidelines have been obtained from of the Centers for Disease Control. As a result, effective today, April 2, 2020 Custom Yacht Service is instituting the following temporary yard practices.

1. Our office, restrooms, workshops, and storeroom will be off-limits to the general public including customers, their guests, and sub-contractors.

2. By appointment our back shop will be opened at our discretion to individual customers requesting to work on their own boats. We will as possible move and reblock any boat outdoors if the customer prefers to continue to work after hours or on their own schedule. The restroom located in the back shop will not be available for use.

3. Restrictions will not be placed on customers, their guests, and sub-contractors who wish to board their own boats blocked outside on our premises. We do ask however that you advise our office staff if you, your guests, or sub-contractors board your boat either during or outside of our regular business hours. If you, your guests, or sub-contractors have been aboard your boat and we are doing work on your vessel that does not allow our crew the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), we will not commence or resume work for a period of 5 days after you de-board the boat. Likewise at your request we can let you know when our crew was last performing work on your vessel.

4. Customers are still welcome to drop off their boats for service work and pick up their boats when work has been completed. We will also continue to be available to pick up and deliver boats as requested. As above, the necessary use of PPE may delay the start of particular jobs on and inside boats coming to CYS for service.

5. If customers would like to purchase items from our storeroom we ask that you call us ahead of time. We will be glad to pick the items requested and deliver them to your boat.

6. We will continue to welcome all customers and prospective customers at our boatyard and will be more than glad to meet with you face-to-face. We do however ask that you contact us by telephone first so we can give you the personal service and undivided attention that each of you deserves. If you are in the boatyard during business hours, need our attention, but cannot reach us by phone, please do not hesitate to knock on our doors, honk your car's horn, or blow your boat's whistle. We will be glad to come find you.

The above temporary restrictions are being implemented for the good health and well-being of our customers and ourselves. We are putting these measures in place to ensure that we will be able to meet your boating needs now as well as in the future.

The Custom Yacht Service staff and crew continue to remain healthy and are continuing to work diligently to meet spring launching schedules. We appreciate your understanding and your cooperation during this unusual time.

Changes to the above guidelines will be sent by email to our customers as well as being posted on our web site: "www.customyachtsvc.com" and on our page.

Dear Customer,

Spring is arriving at Custom Yacht Service, and with it so are the uncharted waters of COVID-19.

While each of you are preparing for the 2020 boating season, we would like to take this opportunity to let you know of the proactive decisions and temporary guidelines we are now implementing at our boatyard as precautionary health measures regarding the Corona Virus

1. The staff and crew of Custom Yacht Service are now practicing "social distancing" among ourselves and our customers whenever possible.

2. We request that you contact us by telephone prior to coming to our boatyard to perform work on your boat. This will allow our yard crew to avoid close-quarters situations that may arise if they are performing scheduled work on your boat while you are on board.

3. We will make available upon request safety apparel such as safety suits, face masks, disposable gloves, and sanitizers while supplies last for our customers working on their boats that are in storage here.

4. Our storeroom will be closed to all customers. If you need supplies from our storeroom, please see our office staff or a member of our crew. We will be glad to pick the items needed from our inventory for your use.

As of this time all of our employees are healthy and Custom Yacht Service is operating at 100 percent capacity. We have no reason to believe this will change in the foreseeable future. Our suppliers however are beginning to cut back in their shipments due to short-staff situations and state- imposed mandates at their locations. Custom Yacht Service will however continue to do all we can to meet your highest expectations in the timeliness in completing spring work orders and spring delivery schedules.

We will continue our yard's open-door policy to anyone wishing to discuss face-to-face their boat's service and repair needs. For those who prefer to communicate by telephone we can be reached on our office line (804-438-5563) and I can be reached on my cell phone ( 804-577-3349) anytime as well as by email ([email protected]).

Our boatyard will of course abide by local, state, and federal guidelines regarding safety precautions and operations related to the Corona Virus. This is however is a rapidly evolving situation. We appreciate your concern and understanding as we work through these uncertain times.
