A giant ship's engine broke down, and no one was able to fix it. So they called in a veteran mechanical engineer with over 30 years of experience.
The engineer examined the engine carefully, carefully moving between its parts. Moments later, he took a small hammer from his bag and gently tapped on a specific spot. Suddenly, the engine sprang back to life!
A week later, the engineer sent a bill for $20,000 to the ship's owner. The owner was astonished and said,
"$20,000 for a hammer strike?! We want a detailed bill!"
The engineer smiled and sent the explanation:
Hammer strikes: $2
Knowing where to strike and how to strike: $19,998
Experience isn't measured by the time it takes to do a job, but by the years you've spent mastering it.
"If I complete a job in 30 minutes, it's because I spent 20 years learning how to do it that fast. You pay for the knowledge, not the minutes."
