As of yesterday ASC Driver Testing is no longer doing any driving tests. it has been a great run but it’s time for a change. I had a great time but all good things come to an end. There isn’t a replacement here yet and I don’t know when there will be one. You can visit Michigan.gov/SOS to find a testing location.

We are now open and taking appointments for driving tests. It’s been a long time coming and there are a lot of people who have been calling, I saved no names numbers or appointments, so if you need an appointment please call. 906-285-1735, if I don’t answer please leave a message, calls will be returned in the order they are received.

With the latest from the State of Michigan and Michigan reopening thing, in part, I received this:

“Driver Testing Businesses cannot administer automobile and motorcycle driving skills tests while Executive Order 2020-96 is in effect, which is currently extended through June 12 by Executive Order 2020-100.”

So essentially no change and no testing yet. I will keep this page updated.

Hope to start taking appointments on the 15th assuming there isn’t an extension of the order prior to that date.

I received an email this morning at 11:14 AM CST that prohibits me from testing until after the June 12th Stay Safe at home order expires.

The email says in part, but most important to me...

"The newly designated resumed activities do not include automobile or motorcycle driver skills testing, driver education, nor motorcycle safety classes, either in classroom or in a vehicle. Therefore, driver skills testing, driver education and motorcycle safety activity must not be resumed while Executive Order 2020-96 is in effect. A willful violation of the Governor’s Executive Order is a misdemeanor and punishable pursuant to MCL 10.33 and MCL 30.405(3)."

I, like many (if not all of you), was under the impression that the U.P. was able to resume testing, they had previously sent me an email asking if I was comfortable with doing tests by May 27th, I was, and I am. However, since there is a potential for criminal punishment, I will not be breaking the law in order to conduct testing.

In the mean time I will not be accepting reservations as dates and times are subject to change based on availablity. Please monitor this page for openings as soon as I am able I will be open.

Sorry for any confusion, I am trying to keep everyone informed as I receive information. When testing is able to resume I will also post any rule changes that I receive. It appears that people will be REQUIRED to wear a mask when testing, vehicles will have to be cleaned, and anyone with symptoms, or a fever will not be tested.

The Governor reset the Safer at Home order to June 12th, but I have not been told that I cannot test. The last email I received said I was able to open and begin testing again at the end of May.

I will begin testing in June and have set aside a few extra days to "TRY" to catch up. I realize that everyone has been waiting for this day and I will schedule as soon as I have openings.

I do not have a waiting list so if you called during the shut down you will have to call again to schedule.

Please leave a message if I am not able to answer and I will return calls/messages in the order in which I received them.

Please make sure your vehicle is clean and sanitized before your appointment. I will not test if it is not cleaned and you will be charged for the appointment. Tests are $60..00 per attempt only 1 attempt per day.

So far....... assuming we don’t get another extension from the Governor..... testing will resume in June.

Due to Covid 19 and the State of Michigan encouraging everyone to stay home, there will be no testing for the next two weeks minimum. We hope that we can begin scheduling again after April 13th. In the meantime please stay home if you can, Wash your hands often and remember an elderly neighbor who may need your help. Take care of yourself and each other,
