Had a great day on the water with a true warrior and her Army husband. We caught plenty of sheepshead, trout, and Spanish Mackerel…. And every 15 inch grouper on The near shore rocks. Then proceeded to try to sight fish reds in the back country. No joy, but as the tide turned and water started moving out, we got two nice reds to finish the day. Great time with great people. Jonny and I headed out at 930 to find some sheepshead and caught 3 keepers and a few mackerel before heading into the mangroves for reds and scout for snook. We proceeded to hammer the reds after a few moves and caught 2 big ones and then released 10 more.
Saw some snook and big schools of reds following the mullet. Call now to book so you can get in on the action. The 1st 4th and 5th are open.

Tarpon Time!!!!
Had the Dollar crew out last week. Weather was real tough, but this group held up well. Tried for snook early in the morning. Plugs were cast for about an hour with only a swing and miss snook and some lady fish. “Chief” did manage a alligator gar on an Unfair lure, which was a surprise for sure. We moved out the river as the tide dropped out and picked up a few man snapper and then Scott managed to hook up to a 15-20 pound Tarpon and it put on a show as it screamed off line of the 3000 shimano reel and had two really spectacular jumps. Released and off to grow up and back to the grind. A few undersized reds prompted us to move to the deeper holes in the bay and paid off. 9 fat mangroves later we called it a day as the rain and wind would not let up.

Had Butch and his crew out for a full day charter and the put the smack down on Sheepshead, grouper and Spanish Mackeral. We then moved to the marsh and weeded through a few short reds and then the bigger one showed up. 26 and 21 inches ate shrimp on a mud flat and we brought them home for dinner. Caught 10 more shorts and headed to the fort.
For Jacob, it was his first and biggest redfish. For Cameron, every fish was his first as he had never been saltwater fishing before this trip.

There is still time to go grouper fishing this winter. I use high quality tackle such as Accurate, Penn, and Shimano to troll and bottom fish in the shallow rock patches of Crystal River and surrounding waters. We also catch snapper, cobia, hognose snapper, and mackeral as well.
