Today we would like to present to you an absolutely stunning 69 Chevelle. Completely updated suspension, Tremec 5 speed, big block, March front drive kit, FiTech, Vintage Air... literally all the bells and whistles. So why do we have it? WELLLL....The engine leaked oil like it was getting paid to do it, the transmission felt like it was trying to tear itself apart, the clutch was not doing clutch things, and one of the itty bitty catalytic converters would start glowing bright red after about 4 minutes... There were some issues to say the least. First the driveline had to be corrected. The transmission was jammed up into the floor as far as it would go, which wasn't far enough, and that put the motor, transmission, and drive shaft at all kinds of different and WRONG angles. Once the motor came back from the machine shop (as a 489 btw) we fabricated some new motor mounts to lift it so the oil pan would clear the cross member so we could level it out. With that done we cut a giant hole in the floor and put the transmission back in to see where everything sat. The tunnel needed to be raised 2 inches for the driveline to be straight. We went ahead and installed a new FiTech throttle body, MSD distributor and coil, relocated the MSD box and reworked a bunch of the wiring under the hood to clean things up a bit. We decided to go ahead and slap some Comp Cams lifters in for good measure before we put the valve covers on. Of course we had to finish things off with our trademark bat wing air cleaner. All of us here at the shop think these things add a really great little something extra under the hood. Something you just don't get with a simple round air cleaner. This car finally performs the way it should and the go parts match the show parts.
