The Power Plant Grant application is live! Starting this year five $12,000 project grants are available for artists anywhere in the state of Indiana. Interesting, experimental artworks are happening all across the state and we want to support it. Fort Wayne, Bloomington, Evansville, Gary, Muncie, New Harmony, the county seats and small towns in between: this year it is also for you.
An independent panel — artists and arts professionals, never Big Car staff — chooses each year's grantees. And this year the jurors are:
Sidney Mori Garrett — Chicago. Director of Programs at 3Arts, a fellow Warhol Foundation regional regranting partner — which means Sidney reads artist proposals for a living and knows what a project grant can do. A Houston-born, Chicago-based curator, arts administrator, and artist whose practice is rooted in a Black feminist lens of love, mindfulness, and care, Sidney is also a 2024–2026 Chicago Artists Coalition Curatorial Resident.
Quinn Tailor — Indianapolis. Textile artist and 2025 Power Plant Grant recipient. Raised in Vallonia, Indiana, a town of under 200 people, Quinn learned to sew at age 3 from their grandmother and now works from an eastside studio. Their funded project, QLT GEN, translated the sentiments of LGBTQ+ people across four generations into five quilts. Quinn brings the view from the other side of the application.
Elliot Josephine Leila Reichert— Bloomington. Curator of Contemporary Art at the Eskenazi Museum of Art, Indiana University, the museum's first, and a critic and editor whose writing has appeared in Hyperallergic, the Brooklyn Rail, and Newcity, where Elliot was formerly Art Editor. Elliot has organized exhibitions at the Block Museum at Northwestern, Artpace in San Antonio, Chicago Artists Coalition, and the Beirut
Tim Parsley (Fort Wayne) — Painter, collagist, and public artist with murals across the Midwest, New York, and Nairobi. Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing in the Department of Art and Design at Purdue University Fort Wayne, and founding member and Vice Chair of the City of Fort Wayne Public Art Commission.
Power Plant Grants support project grants for visual artists who live in Indiana.
Eligible applicants are visual and or multidisciplinary artists who create original work in painting, drawing, sculpture, book art, ceramics, fiber, printmaking, digital and media works, film, video, photography, performance art, sound art, social practice and or hybrid or interdisciplinary practice of any or all of the above.
Artists must be over 21 at the time of the application, and may not be full-time students.
