If you’re “just cranking them tighter”…
you’re doing it wrong—and it can cost you.

First—know what you’re working on:

👉 Automatic slack adjusters (ASA) are NOT meant to be manually adjusted as a fix.
If they’re out of spec, something else is wrong.

WHAT ADJUSTMENT IS (AND ISN’T):

✔ Adjustment = checking stroke & verifying operation
❌ Adjustment ≠ fixing worn brakes, bad hardware, or seized components

THE RIGHT APPROACH:

• Check pushrod stroke (applied)
• Verify proper free play
• Inspect S-cams, bushings, rollers, and shoes
• Confirm the adjuster is actually functioning

If it’s out of spec → find the cause, don’t mask it
