Kentucky: Green lights on tow trucks - Troy's Law, named after tow truck driver Troy Caldwell who was killed on the job in September 2024, has been approved by the House Standing Committee on Transportation and now advances to the Kentucky House of Representatives. The bill would allow tow trucks to be equipped with one or more flashing, rotating, or oscillating green lights to alert drivers to slow down and move over.

Today in Frankfort, leadership and commitment were on full display as Richard White State Representative and State Representative Patrick Flannery filed House Bill 282, known as Troy’s Law. With the support of dedicated co-sponsors, this bill represents more than legislation—it represents voices being heard.

Frankfort stands as the foundation of our Commonwealth’s lawmaking, and days like today remind us why the work done here matters. Our representatives carry the responsibility of turning real-life struggles into real solutions, and the filing of House Bill 282 shows what happens when leadership listens and acts.

Troy’s Law is about fairness, safety, and respect for the towing industry and the blue-collar men and women who keep our roads moving. These are hardworking professionals who show up day and night, in all conditions, to serve their communities. This bill acknowledges their value, their risks, and their right to protections that reflect the essential work they do.

Headed to this weekend’s Heart of Country Music Festival at the
Kenton County Fairgrounds? The Kenton County Police Department is partnering with the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office to ensure traffic moves smoothly following the big event.

Here’s what you need to know:
➡️ Vehicles parked by the 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗪𝗲𝗵𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 must 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝗦 𝟭𝟲.
➡️ Vehicles parked by 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲’𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 must turn 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗶𝗸𝗲, then 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝗦 𝟭𝟲.
➡️ From 𝗨𝗦 𝟭𝟲, cars may turn 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗶𝗸𝗲, but there will be 𝗻𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 on US 16.

Marked patrol vehicles and cones will be out to help guide vehicles in the intended direction. Additionally, ridesharing services will be available for concertgoers who need an alternative means of getting home.
