This past weekend "Mr. Melty" Joel Davis returned to the "5 Points Motor Club" here in Ft. Lauderdale to teach another "Chop Class". This year we did a 4" chop on the "Reverend Ron's" '53 Chevy utilizing the rear window from last year class's '51 Mercury chop. If you ask me it came out pretty freaking awesome! Best yet, this year my two eldest sons participated in the class with me! IMO anytime you get this young generation to put down electronics and get their hands dirty, using creativity...... is a "WIN! WIN!"!!! Not to mention a chance to share this passion of building cars with my sons. Thanks again to Joel Davis for teaching his skills and creativity or should I say his "flowmagineering" IYKYK 😆 and the "5 Points Motor Club" for hosting another class.

It's been quite a while since I've posted anything on this page, as my attempt to move BLR&R's to the Sunshine State has not come without its hurdles to overcome (mainly the inflated real estate prices of the greedy and insane! 😂). But I strive to continue to expand my knowledge and skill set while I continue my search to secure another shop.

A few weeks back, I was given the opportunity to attend "Chop Class with Joel Davis", hosted by the "5 Points Motor Club" in Fort Lauderdale, FL., with a group of like minded individuals. This class was worth every penny spent. Joel Davis is a master at his craft, a wealth of knowledge, and quite frankly just a "down to Earth" dude!

Rob Stannard's (from the "5 Points Motor Club) '51 Mercury received a 4" chop with the rear window from a '49-'50 Lincoln fabricated in. Special thanks to the "5 Points Motor Club" for hosting this event and making it possible for Joel Davis to come to the Fort Lauderdale area and the "Reverend Ron" for documenting this process with all the pictures he took. Although I have never served in the military the following text I copied and pasted was from a post my brother in law, who is a veteran, posted and I feel speaks volumes. Having served a career in law enforcement, I can relate to what is said and I felt it was important to share. I feel more than ever, we as a nation need to understand how important our military is. We need to understand the sacrifice these brave men and women have endured and know that many have seen things that can't be unseen or have had to do things that can't be forgotten. We as a nation need to let them know that our retired as well as our active military were and are more than just a number filling a pair of boots. More than just being disposable heros. That it's not okay that the very people who were willing to sacrifice everything for our freedoms that any should be living homeless, not be given adequate health care, or that an average of 22 veterans a day take their own lives. So to those that have served or are currently serving, I THANK YOU!!!! -J.C.

To understand a Military Veteran you must know:
We left home as teenagers or in our early twenties for an unknown adventure.
We loved our country enough to defend it and protect it with our own lives.
We said goodbye to friends and family and everything we knew.
We learned the basics and then we scattered in the wind to the far corners of the Earth.
We found new friends and new family.
We became brothers and sisters regardless of color, race or creed.
We had plenty of good times, and plenty of bad times.
We didn’t get enough sleep.
We smoked and drank too much.
We picked up both good and bad habits.
We worked hard and played harder.
We didn’t earn a great wage.
We experienced the happiness of mail call and the sadness of missing important events.
We didn’t know when, or even if, we were ever going to see home again.
We grew up fast, and yet somehow, we never grew up at all.
We fought for our freedom, as well as the freedom of others.
Some of us saw actual combat, and some of us didn’t.
Some of us saw the world, and some of us didn’t.
Some of us dealt with physical warfare, most of us dealt with psychological warfare.
We have seen and experienced and dealt with things that we can’t fully describe or explain, as not all of our sacrifices were physical.
We participated in time honored ceremonies and rituals with each other, strengthening our bonds and camaraderie.
We counted on each other to get our job done and sometimes to survive it at all.
We have dealt with victory and tragedy.
We have celebrated and mourned.
We lost a few along the way.
When our adventure was over, some of us went back home, some of us started somewhere new and some of us never came home at all.
We have told amazing and hilarious stories of our exploits and adventures.
We share an unspoken bond with each other, that most people don’t experience, and few will understand.
We speak highly of our own branch of service, and poke fun at the other branches.
We know however, that, if needed, we will be there for our brothers and sisters and stand together as one, in a heartbeat.
Being a Veteran is something that had to be earned, and it can never be taken away.
It has no monetary value, but at the same time it is a priceless gift.
People see a Veteran and they thank them for their service.
When we see each other, we give that little upwards head nod, or a slight smile, knowing that we have shared and experienced things that most people have not.
So, from myself to the rest of the veterans out there, I commend and thank you for all that you have done and sacrificed for your country.
Try to remember the good times and make peace with the bad times.
Share your stories.
But most importantly, stand tall and proud, for you have earned the right to be called a Veteran.

Had this beauty come into the shop a few weeks back. Believe it or not, this bad boy has 3rd row seating. The owner had lost the cover to the "stow and go" style seating and asked Blue Line Rods & Restorations to make him a new one.
