Howdy folks!

We wanted to update the community on our status for the next couple months. It's been a pleasure to meet so many new people across the world and share our passion over the last couple years! There are some changes afoot for Gemstate's operation this year.

Due to circumstances beyond our control we are relocating the shop this winter. This will require a massive effort to move our 100,000+ stock of components. As a one machinist operation, we will not be able to fulfill new orders until we have the new facility up and running. Some of you are aware of the challenges we faced late last year with our dear Lab-ernese Ruby being struck by a car in addition to other operation challenges we faced to close out the year. We are working hard to complete the orders we still have on our ticket as we prepare for this move.

Keep an eye out for a body liquidation sale as we are relocating to smaller space, some of our vintage and NOS parts sadly cannot make the journey with us.

Just wanted to give everybody a little update on everything GSA. I got hit with a nasty spell of a cold and flu, that put me out for a couple weeks and put a delay on the orders we received last month. Heading into the new year, I'll be back at the shop on January 2nd and will be at the shop Monday - Thursday to complete orders during the Winter months.

This engine started out as a 1.8L Type 4 short block. We were curious as to why the engine failed- we found factory tags indicating it was a Remanufactured case and it looked to be in great shape!

Upon tear down and inspection we found that the center main cam bearing delaminated, It needed new camshaft bearings, but everything else was in great shape and mic’d out perfectly!!

Some of the debris from the bad bearing made their way up to the distributor drive gear and bound it up against the distributor drive pinion gear!

We found the reason this motor wasn’t able to turn over, something we haven’t seen before on an engine that showed signs of very low run time!!
It got new bearings, piston rings & everything else to make it a complete turnkey engine. It will be a great addition to the 77 champagne edition bus that it's going in.

This week was a tough one. Our beloved pup Ruby was hit by a car and broke her leg pretty badly. Steele had to rush her to Salt Lake City for surgery to repair the damage and save her leg from amputation. Thankfully the surgery was a great success and though she has a long road to recovery and a long happy four limbed life, we are so grateful. Thanks to the surgeon and clinic for doing such a great job and helping us through this scary week.

Hey folks pulling out some neat finds from the stash, here we have a V***r Honed set of Hemi cut Big valve heads that were machined by Rimco who knows how long ago. (Bonus points if you can date them from the Rimco tag.....)

These are Vw castings that were cut to 94 MM and Hemi cut for lower compression for turbo applications. These heads come with 44mm intake valves and 37.5 mm exhaust valves.
These are turbo heads and this setup will work best in that application.
Price is $650 for the set and buyer pays shipping.
