Next Friday Smitty's Automotive & Sales is going to participate in the Polar Plunge. We are going to jump into Hyrum Dam to get Freezin for a Reason.

The Special Olympics holds a special place in our heart. The good it does for the Special Needs kids in our schools is indescribable.

If you've never watched a Unifed Sports/Special Olympics sports game I highly encourage it. It is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and possibly some tears to your eyes.

We heard that the Special Olympics has not raised enough money from the Polar Plunge, so they are seriously considering canceling it.

This may not seem like a big deal to you, but.... Did you know that it's these fundraising events that allow Special Olympics Utah to provide year-round sports programming for free to our athletes?

Do you know someone with special needs? Likely, this program has impacted their lives.

Winter reminders:

Antifreeze will help protect your vehicle in negative temperatures.

Cold temperatures drain your battery.

Have all your bulbs checked. This helps people see you, and you can see them.

Windshield wiper effectiveness is vital for staying safe on the road.

Cold temperatures cause oil to thicken, which can prevent it from lubricating. Make sure you are getting your oil changed.

1. Oil change- Have our technician check/change your oil before you get busy, or your college student leaves town.This is the most basic maintenance item to check off your list.
2. Tires balanced & rotated or replaced- Flat or bald tires can leave your car immobile or difficult to steer and stop safely.
3. Cooling System- Our technician will check both the level and cleanliness of your coolant.
4. Check Engine Light On- We don't want you stranded. Being proactive with your car maintenance keeps you and your car happy and off the side of the road.
5. Brake & Blinker Lights- No lights can lead to a lack of communication between you and other motorists.
6. Brakes- Brake pads, rotors and calipers should be inspected periodically to ensure that they are wearing evenly and don't need replaced.
