Most people see the word “salvage” and immediately walk away.

That can be a mistake.

When I look at a salvage vehicle, I’m not asking only, “How bad does it look?”

I’m asking:

• What exactly was damaged?
• Was the frame or structure affected?
• What happened to the airbags and safety systems?
• How was the vehicle repaired?
• What does the vehicle history show?
• And most importantly — what will the car actually cost after everything is done?

A car with visible damage can sometimes make sense.

A car that looks perfect can sometimes be a terrible deal.

The damage itself is only one part of the decision. The real question is whether the entire deal makes sense.
