Conditions are getting drier by the day, so please refrain from any outdoor burning at this time. One small spark can quickly turn into a dangerous wildfire.

Please do your part to protect your neighbors, our firefighters, our first responders, and our community.

NO BURNING means NO BURNING. Please help us keep Trinity County safe.

🎯 A SUCCESSFUL DAY FOR HUNTER EDUCATION IN TRINITY COUNTY!

What a great turnout for our Texas Hunter Education Course held Saturday in Groveton!

We had around 50 young people and adults spend their Saturday learning how to be safer, more responsible hunters. The class covered firearm and hunting safety, ethics, wildlife conservation, hunting laws, and the responsibilities that come with enjoying the outdoors.

A big thank you goes to Game Wardens Anthony King, Sam Shanafelt, Justin Christoph, Brady Crump, and Justin Gallander, along with Sheriff Woody A. Wallace, for taking the time to teach and work with everyone who attended.

We also want to once again thank David McKendree and Tacos By The Trax for providing lunch for the entire class. Their continued support of our youth programs and community events is greatly appreciated.

One of the things we believe strongly in at the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office is getting our young people involved in positive activities. Hunting, fishing, shooting sports, outdoor recreation, learning a trade, and other hands-on activities teach responsibility and give our kids something productive to be part of.

Judging by the turnout, there is definitely an interest in Hunter Education here at home, so we plan to do it again next year!

Congratulations to everyone who completed the course, and thank you to the parents, instructors, volunteers, and supporters who helped make the day a success.

Safe hunting starts with education. We are proud to help prepare the next generation of Texas hunters right here in Trinity County.
