As I reflect on this great start to the season, I am really relieved that we finally broke the Burke curse where we had incidents 2 years in a row.
I still have some major PTSD from the 2024 crash, but getting back racing as soon as you feel ready to try it again, definitely helps. Between the physical pain and the mental scars, your pace won't be the same and you need to be ready to accept that. It takes a lot of time to rebuild confidence and finding pleasure again in driving at the limit (I am not there yet).
Even if Margaret had a less severe crash last year, she had to regain confidence while learning a new car. Pretty amazing how quickly she was able to set new personal bests already this year.
If you have PTSD from a racing incident and you want to talk, feel free to reach out.
We are now looking forward to Climb to the Clouds and having a great time with our friends and the New England Hillclimb Association family!
