Before you even turn the key, set the goal for the lesson. 🎯

Take a moment to let your teen know what you’ll be focusing on during the drive. Maybe it’s smoother stops, better scanning, or simply creating a calmer experience than the last lesson.

When teens know what to expect and have a clear goal, they’re less likely to feel overwhelmed and you’re more likely to have a productive, positive drive. 🙌

Small steps. Clear goals. More confident drivers.

This is just a reminder that dogs (no matter how cute) cannot operate heavy machinery in the state of Pennsylvania! 😂

For the safety of everyone involved—the driver, other people on the road, and the dog itself—please keep your pets safely in the passenger side or in the back seat!

Commentary driving = a total game changer! 🚗 🧠

Learning to drive isn’t just about controlling the car. It’s about processing hundreds of pieces of information at once. For many teens, especially neurodiverse learners, commentary driving can be a powerful strategy that builds confidence, awareness, and focus behind the wheel. 🙌

Many of us were taught that the proper hand placement on a steering wheel is 10 & 2! That rule is outdated now. 🚙

9 & 3 gives you the most control and keeps your hands away from the airbags if they were to go off, so be sure to make that adjustment if you haven't already! 🙌

The best way to teach your teen awareness on the road? Ask the right questions!

Shouting commands is far less effective than allowing your teen to practice being observant and coming to their own conclusions.

If your teen is waiting until the last second to brake, it could be a sign they’re not looking far enough ahead. 🚗

As parents, we can help them build better habits by encouraging them to watch for brake lights, traffic signals, and changes in traffic before they become immediate problems.

The goal isn’t just to react. It’s to look ahead, anticipate what’s coming, and give yourself more time to respond safely.

Most teenagers already know they should never drink and drive. But knowing the rules at home is different from actually making a safe decision when they’re at a party, under pressure from friends, worried about getting in trouble, or relying on someone who has been drinking for a ride.

From today through September 1, the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is raising awareness about the dangers and consequences of impaired driving.

When your teen is learning to drive, mistakes are part of the process. It's important to help them learn to stay calm, think clearly, and make safe choices.

A missed turn is always better than a rushed lane change or an unsafe maneuver. Take the next turn, reroute, and keep building those confident driving habits.

Your calm response teaches them how to handle unexpected moments on the road!
