The Trump administration just rolled back Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards to much easier numbers for automakers to meet. The idea being that these changes will save manufacturers money by reducing their required effort to achieve high fuel economy averages, which will then be passed on to the consumer.

Now, there's a lot to talk about here, but it could ultimately mean great things for performance junkies. Lower standards could signify the American V8 engine's return to its former prominence. It may also mean less-complex, more reliable versions are produced.
