Ok , this is the weekend. Come on out and see the official debut of Tony Tavares’ 1946 Mercury Custom “Prehistoric” at the Griot’s Garage Colorado Nationals at Blue Arena in Loveland. If you come out on Saturday we will hopefully be parked in the Builders Choice section. See you this weekend.

A very emotional day today. This truck belonged to a very close friend of mine. He inherited it from his grandfather. An old farm truck, six cylinder, used and abused to the fullest. My buddy would hang out with me in the shop to learn how to tackle a project like this. His coveralls still hang in my shop. He had the truck completely disassembled and parts sorted bagged and labeled. Unfortunately he passed away 10 years ago (this week). His brother and his dad asked if I could build it for his young son. Today I was able to show it to Joey, take him for a drive and actually let him drive it. Tears were flowing and hugs were passed around. New suspension, 5”drop, 4 wheel disc brakes, 454 big block, TH 400 trans, new wiring, new glass, new fenders, new tailgate, rust repairs, faux patina paint to match the original patina panels, 17” Torque Thrust wheels, relocated fuel tank, bucket seats, custom console.

Great day at the Nite Owls Fiesta Fun Run today. My donation air filter clock auctioned for much more than I expected. Received the always appreciated, Appreciation Award, and I was shocked by a Lifetime Achievement Award. Probably one of the best accolades I think I’ve ever received. When they read the names of past winners it was shocking to me that they gave me this honor. Thank you Nite Owls. Let’s do it again next year.

This one has been a little tough emotionally, and I know we can’t push it as far as we would like to, but it is a project near and dear to my heart. Miss you my Brother. I hope the boys enjoy this.
