Make this summer your Cool Car Summer!..🧊🚘

Did you know, refrigerant tends to gather moisture and become corrosive? That causes leaks in the system which can be expensive to repair. Fresh refrigerant protects the air conditioning components and keeps the system operating at peak efficiency so it doesn't have to work as hard to keep you cool.

Even with regular service A/C parts can just wear out. Normal wear and tear eventually gets to all moving parts.

Addressing early problems can save on more extensive repairs down the road. For instance, a common failure is the clutch that turns the compressor on and off. If you can take care of a bad A/C clutch when it first starts having problems, you may be able to save the compressor. Wait too long and you'll have to replace both.

Check your owner's manual or ask our knowledgeable service advisors at Hilltop Service Center for service recommendations.

And if you're hearing strange sounds when your air conditioning turns on, or if it just isn't as cold as it used to be, have us give it the once over and see what it'll take to keep you cool.

Your "Cool Car Summer" awaits at Hilltop Service Center!..🧊🚘

Give us a call at 715-386-4000 or schedule online at www.hilltopservice.com and let us help keep you safely and economically on the road.

Is your car giving you "bad vibes?" 🚩🚗💨

If you’re feeling a shimmy in the steering wheel or a wobble in your seat, it’s not just your imagination—it’s your tires crying out for a little balance! ⚖️

The Science of the Smooth:

🛑 The Wobble: Small weights can fall off your wheels, causing them to "dance" unevenly. We use eco-friendly materials like zinc to get them back in sync! 🌍✨

🛑 The Wear: Front tires do all the heavy lifting (literally!). They handle the cornering and braking, which wears down their "shoulders."

🛞 The Rotation: We rotate your tires so everyone gets a turn on the front end and a little "break" on the back end. It helps all four tires wear evenly and last much longer!

Whether your vehicle needs a simple front-to-back swap or a complex cross-rotational pattern, we’ve got you covered. 🛠️

Give us a call at 715-386-4000 and let’s get those good vibes back on the road!

Ever wondered what those "secret codes" on tires mean? 🕵️‍♂️🚗

Yours might start with a letter, then a 3-digit number, followed by a few more numbers and letters. That string of letters and numbers is very important for your vehicle because it contains useful information on what tires will give you the performance to meet your vehicle’s original design specifications.

These numbers can be found in most owners' manuals and usually on the driver's side door-frame. Generally, it's a good idea to stick with the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.

Let's look at an example. One customer's has this number on her tires: P215/65R15

The first letter, P, means it's intended for passenger vehicles. Some tires don't have any letter at the beginning, which means it's a metric tire. Some tires may also have LT at the beginning or end, which means “light truck”.

The next number, 215, in our example, indicates the tire's width in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall. So, this one is 215 mm wide.

The number after that, 65 in our example, stands for the ratio of the height to its width, or the aspect ratio. In our example, the number 65 means the height is 65 percent of the tire width. High-performance road tires will have a lower aspect ratio than a tire designed for comfort or off-road use.

The next letter, R, in our example, is the type of tire it is, radial in this case. The next number, 15 in our example, is wheel diameter in inches.

In some cases, you can change tire and wheel sizes, but it's best to get expert help since mismatching tires and wheels with a vehicle can cause performance and safety issues. It requires resetting some of the electronic systems to compensate for the new tire/wheel size. So, consult your Hilltop Service Center Service Advisor when it's time to put a new set of tires on your vehicle. Hey, at least now you know what some of those funny numbers and letters mean!

Is your battery actually the "bad guy?" 🔍🔋

We get this question a lot: "When do I need to replace my battery?" The answer isn't always as simple as a dead battery!

Sometimes, a "dying" battery is just a symptom of a chain of events:
🛑 The Slipping Belt: A worn serpentine belt or tensioner can’t spin the alternator properly.
🛑 The Tired Alternator: If the alternator isn't charging, your battery stays hungry.
🛑 The Short Trip Cycle: Frequent short stops mean your battery never gets a "full meal" (a total recharge), causing it to harden and lose its storage power over time.

The Hilltop Pro Tip: Don’t just swap the battery! 🛠️ 70% of batteries fail within 4 years, but we always test the entire charging system first. We don't want you replacing a perfectly good battery when the real culprit is a $30 belt!

Expert Recommendation: Most experts suggest a fresh battery every 5 years to avoid being stranded.

Is your car starting a little sluggishly this spring? Bring it by Hilltop Service Center and let’s find the real "bad guy!" 🕵️‍♂️🚙

Nobody likes a "No Warning" breakdown! 🚩🚙

Fuel pumps are notorious for failing without any heads-up. One minute you’re driving, and the next, you’re waiting for a tow.

Want to help your fuel pump last longer? Don't let your tank run too low!

Keeping at least a quarter tank of gas helps keep the pump submerged, lubricated, and cool. It’s the easiest way to prevent your pump from working overtime and burning out early. ⛽💪

Is your car acting a little sluggish? Stop by Hilltop Service Center and let’s make sure everything is flowing right!
