I've had this idea for some time, I just didn't know what to do with it. When I found out my wife and I were expecting our second child, I needed a larger 4x4. With Land Cruiser heritage, a growing domestic aftermarket, and plentiful, clean examples available in the used market, I landed on the Lexus GX470. After a lot of time crawling around my rig installing suspension and a winch (among other things), I noticed the factory front tow points were laughable. I needed something more sturdy. The only solution I initially found was to install an aftermarket bumper to gain the recovery points necessary to make a safe recovery. After some deeper digging, I stumbled on a few Australian fabricators that were making bolt on recovery points for factory bumpers. After lots of research, no one in the US was selling these. How could that be? Do I REALLY have to spend $1000+ on a bumper or ship some parts across the Pacific ocean to have heavy duty recover points? NOT ANYMORE.
