These compact spring supports were custom designed for an oil refinery in Minnesota. Typically, compact spring supports are used to support large loads with small movements and prevent overloading at process equipment nozzles. In this case, the springs are designed to support loads of 5,605 lb., 4,747 lb., and 1,250 lb. and movements of 0.133" and 0.029" upward and 0.199" downward, respectively. Compact spring supports utilize engineered-disc spring washers. Since these spring supports contain disc springs, both the support housings and the springs contained in the housings are made from 304 stainless steel. Corrosion resistance is significantly increased by using this combination. Glass coatings can also be applied to both the housing and springs to make the support system virtually impervious. Each assembly underwent load testing prior to shipment.

We can't think of a better way to end Women's History Month than to highlight some of the amazing women we have here at Piping Technology & Products. One of our loyal customers, a North American-based energy company, reached out to us for warranty work on one of our Fabric Expansion Joints. Carla Turner, who is our fierce Fabric Expansion Joint team lead, stepped in and stepped up! She flew up to West Virginia and completed the work. Thank you, Carla, for being a part of our team and for being dedicated to the success of our products in the field.

Good morning,

These 200 U-Type constant spring supports with slide plates were designed by PT&P for a plant in Texas. They are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with an HDG finish and are typically designed for vertical movement only. However, when there is lateral or axial movement in the piping system, slide plates can be used in conjunction with these constants. In this instance, graphite slide plates are bolted to the constant’s load fl**ge and used with an upper slide plate
manufactured from 304 stainless steel with a mirror finish. The upper slide plate can be welded to the base of a pipe shoe, trunnion, or the saddle of a pressure vessel.

Good morning,

An industrial furnace, also known as a direct heater or a direct-fired heater, is used in refineries, power plants, and petrochemical plants to raise the temperature of the process fluids that flow through tubes in an industrial process. Furnace designs vary as to their function, heating duty, type of fuel, and method of introducing combustion air. Heat is generated by an industrial furnace by mixing fuel with air or oxygen or from electrical energy. The residual heat will exit the furnace as flue gas (also called exhaust gas).

In this weeks product of the week, Piping Technology & Products, Inc. supplied "on-time delivery" of two industrial structural steel pipe racks and the accompanying pipe spools that would be attached to storage tanks measuring approximately 120 ft. in diameter and over 85 ft. tall. The project was quoted and delivered in less than 8 weeks. The project encompassed the design, fabrication, and installation of a vertical pipe rack with insulated and uninsulated pipe spool assembly .The various sections of pipe spools were welded together both in-house and at the job site. The job site work was done by our experienced teams consisting of Field Service and Shop Manufacturing personnel. Pipe spool welds were X-rayed and visual examinations by our QC department were done according to our client’s procedures and requirements.
