❄️December is Winter Car Care Month❄️
Prepare Your Vehicle Now for Safe Winter Driving
As temperatures drop and winter weather settles in, December is an important reminder for drivers to ensure their vehicles are ready for the challenges of the season. Winter Car Care Month, recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the Be Car Care Aware campaign, highlights the importance of preparing your vehicle for cold conditions.
Key Areas to Inspect This Winter:
Battery – Cold weather reduces battery power. Testing and replacing if necessary can help prevent unexpected no-start situations.
Tires – Check tread depth and tire pressure, as air pressure drops with colder temperatures. Consider winter tires for added traction.
Brakes – Ensure braking systems are responsive and free of wear to handle icy or snowy roads.
Fluids – Verify that engine oil, coolant (antifreeze), and winter-grade windshield washer fluid are at proper levels.
Heating & Defrosting Systems – Critical for maintaining comfort and keeping windows clear of frost and fog.
Wipers & Lighting – Ensure wiper blades, headlights, brake lights, and turn signals are functioning for maximum visibility during shorter, darker days.
most importantly make sure you have stocked or refreshed a winter emergency kit for the "just in case" scenario of getting stranded. The kit should include items like blankets, an ice scraper, a small shovel, jumper cables, a flashlight, food, and water.
Proper winter maintenance improves safety, boosts vehicle performance, and can help prevent costly repairs when you need your car the most.
Stay warm and most importantly, stay safe out there!
