1936 Ford Coupe update:
Completed the left side B pillar metal fab today.
This car was "repaired" in the past by another shop and they didn't put things where they should have been. The door gap on this side was horrendous and the body was out of whack. My guess is that they did the rust repairs without a jig or frame. Regardless, I had to completely cut out all their work and start over.
First photo shows the B pillar and quarter skin removed. I had to take another B pillar from a donor car.

1936 Ford 3 window coupe update:
Turned attention to the rear window area. Optional was a roll down rear window to give flow through ventilation. I guess seal technology wasn't the best during the depression so water that gets past the seals are caught in a sort of through or rain gutter and channeled via a hose into the rear wheel well.
The trough after 88 years was rotted big time. I cut out and refabbed a new trough.

1936 Ford update:
Been rebuilding inner body structure. The previous shop's repairs weren't done on a frame so they were all over the place.

This one has challenged me. I only had 2 known points of reference and that was the original cowl feet. That located the 2 forwardmost mounts for the firewall/ cowl. The rest of the car was free to flex upwards of 3". This poor old body was every which way but right. I took good measurements from my 36 to establish the theoretical position for the lower A pillar mounts and locked them down. Then I rebuilt the right A pillar and attached it to the new subrail. Then I mounted the door and moved the body around until I could get the best door gap and locked down the B pillar. Then I rebuilt it and attached it to the subrail.

Since the floor goes between the frame and the subrails, I slipped it in next and located the left subrail. I'll repeat the whole process on the left side next.

Been straightening out some previous inner structure sins. I love when mock up reveals the true lines of the car you're building... it's inspirational.
Check out the sassy curves on this 88 year old girl!

1936 Ford 3 window coupe update:

Finally back at it!
Like a lot of projects I take on, they've been messed with by another shop. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes ugly.

This old 36 has had a ton of structural "repairs" done somewhere else years back, but whoever did it, did it all wrong. I am having to cut out all the "new" floors and subrails and start from scratch. Also had to remove all the rear "repairs" because of misalignment issues as well. There was no need to brace this one before cutting everything out because nothing was where it was supposed to be. Oh well.

Free automotive advice for Classic Car Owners:

If you have a classic car that runs a flat tappet cam you need to run an oil that's compatible. Valvoline VR1 contains high levels of zinc for your older engines.
Modern oils, in an effort to be cleaner, have taken the zinc out of them. This is detrimental on cars with flat tappet hydraulic and solid cams.
I don't get any sponsorship from Valvoline, just want to share this info in case you didn't know.

1969 Chevy C10 update:
It's been awhile since I got to choose a set of pipes for my own ride. Since I ride a Harley and like to hear the engine, I'd get a little nostalgic and run glass packs behind the old Chevy.
