Thinking about DIYing some car repairs, but don’t know where to start!

Don’t worry, we can help!

Fixing your vehicle can be a difficult process to navigate — especially if you’re never done it before.

Naturally, you’ll want to make things run as smoothly as possible.

We would too! So to make things easier for you, here are some of the dos and don’ts of DIY auto repairs:

Do:

-Get a repair manual for your car. This will help you understand what’s going on under the hood, and give you a reference guide for replacements.

-Take precautionary measures like disconnecting any battery cables before working on the electrical system.

-Remove fuses and relays: this will prevent any sparks from damaging components in the engine bay.

-Use proper safety gear like goggles and gloves when you’re making repairs. This will keep things from getting in your eyes while you’re working.

Don’t:

-Work on your car while it’s running. Things can get dangerous very quickly if anything goes wrong under the hood — so make sure everything’s turned off before you start.

-Work under your vehicle alone. If you have to use a jack to lift your car, you should always have another person with you in case anything goes wrong.

-Be afraid to ask for help if you feel that you’re in over your head.

False. Carburetors mix air and fuel mechanically. Fuel injectors do it electronically. Most vehicles from the last 30 years use injectors, more efficient, but they still need attention over time.
