If you don't have a push-button ignition, the steering lock could have set in just the right place when you turned the car off so it prevents the key from being able to disengage that steering wheel lock. For starters, only vehicles with a curb weight greater than 2,750 pounds are listed. Every car must pass extensive safety tests and evaluations with flying colors, and receive strong marks from Consumer Reports for braking, handling and reliability. Additionally, vehicles must have a minimum rating of four or five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
