Guy bought a "running" S2000 pt1

Apparently it just needed a new ECU and a tune so of course it didn't run when purchased. Customer buys a ECU, starts it and it makes a heck of a racket. Takes out the motor and drops it off without touching anything. Broken piston ring land in #4. Gouged wall. Broken off bolt in head holding down VTEC solenoid. Trash all in oil pickup. This motor didn't like being worked on for more than 20 minutes at a time without presenting the next problem.

Saddened to hear of local motorsports legend Charlie Peppers passing yesterday.

Charlie was quite the character. He had done so much different engine machine work, he knew something about almost everything. Always fun to be around, you never quite knew what he was going to say but it was a given he'd have chewing to***co hidden away somewhere.

An IHRA mountain motor pro stock legend, he not only built the motor but also routinely drove to 6.70s-6.80s in the early 2000s (1/4mi)

One of his neatest accomplishments has to be building his own bore honing machine from scratch. Up front in his shop, it was the first time you knew this wasn't just any old metal building behind someone's house (if you didn't manage to walk up when the engine dyno was running).

He'd work on any motor and had machined not only some Honda stuff for me, but a 466" big block Ford as well and plenty in between. A true master of his craft.

Had a request more than a year ago for this emblem but just recently saw the finished product.

Local shop wanted a little different flavor for their f-150 and they liked the 50s F1 gear and lightning bolt logo the Fords had but the 50s shield isn't close to the same size as the more current oval layout.

Drew it up in Solidworks and our little anet did a decent job. Wasn't prepared to see the magic worked by whoever painted it though. Hard to believe it's not chrome 🤯

Nothing super fancy here. Just some 6061 getting turned into hydraulic pistons for an ancient bobcat with obsolete parts.

While quite a bit of our work is race car related, we often get repair jobs of the industrial/agricultural variety and this is one.

Don't know too many guys restoring old skid steers but if you need some Bobcat 610 parts, let us know.

End of an era for sure.

Plenty of great memories at Atlanta Dragway not to mention extremely crowded friday night TNTs up until they stopped running.

As the closest drag strip to our building, we now have a rather large void where every track is at least a 2 hour drive and even further for a 1/4mi track.

Truly a shame.

Even though we knew it was coming, today marks destruction day at Atlanta Dragway. Rest in peace, Old Girl; we will miss you.

One of the hardest parts of being a job shop is getting time to do your own products.

Got the model done for the Skunk2 version of our tensioner cover plate oil returns 5 months ago and had to push some parts out of the way to find time to machine them.

Same concept as the OEM fitment returns: works as a great drain source for oil-lubricated turbochargers with sidewinder and top mount setups.

As normal, the -10AN fitting along with M6 low profile socket head cap screws are included.

Unfortunately, these will be RTV sealed only. There's simply not enough width on the mating surface of the Skunk2 timing cover to support an o-ring.

Just under 3 months left for Atlanta Dragway.

Glad we got a chance to make the last NHRA Southern Nationals back in April.

Not sure what the future holds for drag racing here in Georgia but it's always a sad statement to see a track be torn down, especially when there isn't a shortage of land in the city of Commerce.
