This project is personal to me….

My journey began 18 years ago as a Pediatric ER Nurse. The very first child death I experienced was a beautiful 15-month-old little girl who was about the same age as my own daughter at the time.

Her family was attending a birthday party. Each parent thought the other was watching her. The reality was that, for just a brief moment, no one was.

It only takes approximately 20-30 seconds for a child to drown. Not minutes… SECONDS.
Despite our team’s best efforts to revive that precious baby, she did not survive.
That day changed me forever.

Since then, I have done everything I can to promote water safety and drowning prevention whenever possible.

Did you know?…..

⚠️ More children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death.
⚠️ Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 5-14.
⚠️ More than 4,000 people lose their lives to unintentional drowning each year in the United States.
⚠️ Approximately 10% of fatal childhood drownings occur at short-term vacation rentals.
⚠️ Over 80% of recreational boating drowning victims were not wearing a life jacket.

How many times have you arrived at your vacation destination and realized you forgot your child’s life jacket? Or discovered the one from last year no longer fits after a growth spurt? Maybe friends come to visit with their little ones and don’t think to bring one at all.

That’s why we installed a Life Jacket Loaner Station right here at Coppertone Creations.

If you find yourself or someone you know in need of an infant/child LifeJacket…. Swing on by!

✔️ Borrow a life jacket for the day.
✔️ Enjoy your time on the water safely.
✔️ Return it when you’re finished so another family can use it.

Whether you’re boating, fishing, scalloping, swimming, or simply enjoying the waterfront, we want every family to have access to properly fitted life jackets when they need them.

Water safety isn’t just a suggestion—it’s a requirement.
