Wow!!
Here we are ….20 Years!!
Yes, 20 years TODAY since Gemini Cycle Supply Inc opened its doors! What a "RIDE" it has been !!
We moved here in Feb of 2000 both of us accepting a job offer at the new HD Dealership in Horn Lake. After a miserable year of us both going from the best jobs we’d ever had to the absolute worst!! (We wont go into that. for those that knew her, no explanation is needed) We were ready to pack it up and move back to Florida.
It was at a Bike night at Huey’s that YOU, the community asked us to stay and open a shop here. Funny, we went to Huey’s last night for dinner and reminisced about how great the bike nights were back then! I don’t begrudge Beale St for starting and pulling the Bike Night crowd away. But it was so much better when it was hosted by so many of our local bars and restaurants!! The packs of bikes riding all over Desoto County on Wednesday nights was awesome. Great times!!
So, back to our journey .....
It has been quite a ride & seems a fitting fate that here we are full circle from where we began…… Literally!!
August 3rd 2001, we opened up in a small 1100sf bay in a strip on Dancy Blvd. We out grew it almost immediately, expanding to the next bay, then the next, eventually into a 3300sf shop at Bullfrog Corner. After a few years we began busting at the seems again and landed in a 8000sf building on Goodman Rd. So many of you helped with our moves. From painting, building fixtures, slinging sheetrock, loading parts shelves and bins, feeding the crew, and the move itself.
We remain so grateful to each of you that helped thru our moves!!!
For the first few years in the big building, we boomed. The shop was keeping busy year round and we had a great crew!!
Unfortunately, in 2012, when the economy tanked, we also lost our 2 longest employees. (Jared and Debra) Both had been with us for 7+ years. The big shop quickly became an elephant on our backs. We took inventory (so to speak) evaluating everything. We knew we were not ready to quit but we couldn’t go on in the big store.
We decided to go back to our roots. A small shop focused on service and repair only.
We started the search for our smaller location and wa-lla we landed back on Dancy Blvd Just around the corner from our first location. Back to just us.
So many of you have been with us thru this journey from the start. Some we have met along the way and so many of you have become so much more than customers, you are to us friends and family (you know who you are)
With that, we say…. THANK YOU !! Thank you to everyone that has supported us thru these past 20 years.
We are so, so very grateful to all of you and to still be here….going strong !!!
I will be adding pics to this post as I get chances to go thru them. I have tried to get this post up all day, a few minutes at a time J
