Fifteen years ago, William took a chance on our 1 year old shop and I will be forever grateful. "William, what kind of automotive work do you enjoy the most?”
(William) “The hard stuff, I like a challenge”.
He has it all: great work ethic, exceptional attitude and teamwork, and crazy good expertise in his field.
Some guys are born with some mechanical aptitude. Will has it in spades. Gifted with ability and developed through schooling, master certifications, and decades of experience; I haven't seen much he can't figure out. He refuses to give in when he is on the receiving end of the sometimes, “What were they thinking?” moments handed him from auto engineers. Special tools or proper diagrams not available? Will “MacGyver” will figure it out another way and might end up making a tool to get it done.
Another technician struggling with a repair at the end of the day? William volunteers to stay late to assist, making sure the technician is helped and customer's needs are taken care of. No job is too big or too small. No help needed from another goes unanswered or without great patience and encouragement.
Customer having difficulty describing a noise or running problem? William is the guy who says, “Let's go for a ride.”
Advisor having difficulty understanding or explaining a problem? Put William on the phone, he will explain with great patience and respect.
Opening inside the office? Will stops me while I walk thru the shop making sure I know he isn't interested in that and wants to stay working on the cars. He could do whatever technical job he wanted, aerospace engineer...no problem; if he wanted to go that way. Why does he work on automobiles? It's a calling. His excellent work is an act of service to his God and his community.
I'm SO thankful he has and continues to work with us. I'm thankful for his friendship and how he makes me and everyone else around him better. Let's go for 15 more!
