Rescue tubes are now available at many Hawaii beaches and swim sites, even when lifeguards are not on duty, thanks to the Rescue Tube Foundation ( www.rescuetubefoundation.org ), based on Kauai. The Hawaii Kai Lion's Club is currently coordinating an ocean safety initiative to provide up to 6000 rescue tubes to Oahu residents, free of charge.
