Most people think a superbike is uncomfortable, intimidating, and strictly for the track. For many ICE superbikes, that’s true.

Lightning Motors Corporation is returning to the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats with the Tachyon Nb, our next-generation high-speed electric platform built around one core philosophy:
⚡ Strength in Lightness ⚡

Rather than chasing performance through added mass, we focused on advanced metallurgy, digitally optimized structures, and our EDGE Modular Powertrain Platform to maximize real-world usable performance.

This program is made possible through our strategic collaboration with CBMM. By integrating Niobium (Nb) micro-alloy technology into the swingarm, we achieved the structural integrity required for 600+ HP while significantly reducing weight.

The result:
• 600+ HP electric powertrain
• Ultra-lightweight swingarm engineering using Niobium micro-alloys

Is the current Energy Crisis the Tipping Point for 2-Wheel EVs?

Over a pizza dinner recently, a friend said something that stuck with us: “Maybe the current energy crisis is finally the tipping point for mass EV adoption.”

In the two-wheel world, the response is split:
- The Entry Level: In China and Asia, the math was simple. Lower cost, high practicality. Done.
- The Premium Segment (400cc - 1000cc+): This is where it gets complicated.

These riders spend $15K–$30K+ on machines that are about identity and adrenaline. Fuel cost was never the deciding factor here.

So, does the energy crisis actually change the game for them? Or is this segment driven by performance and emotion rather than the price at the pump?

My take: The premium adoption curve follows a different timeline entirely—one dictated by the "soul" of the machine, not the cost of the commute.

Here's an uncomfortable truth in EV engineering: when you hit a range problem, reaching for a bigger battery is the easy way out.

But "easy" comes with real costs that compound quickly.
- More weight = more energy needed = bigger battery needed = even more weight. The spiral doesn't stop.
- Cost per kWh climbs fast — but a more efficient system at the same capacity delivers more for less.
- Handling suffers. Riding experience degrades. The vehicle becomes harder to handle.

The better engineers ask a different question: how do we do more with what we already have?

Efficiency engineering isn't glamorous. But it's the difference between a vehicle that's merely good enough — and one that's powerful and genuinely smart.
