Here we have a two-piece mirror installation. Why two pieces? Not every mirror can be completed with one piece, and even if it could, it is more than likely not the best route to take. Why? Because our PPF is 8mil to provide the best protection possible. When over-stretched it becomes 6mil or 5mil or even less in thickness, so it doesn't provide as much protection and leaves the area vulnerable to damage. Also, over-stretching can lead to pulling back or premature failure when this film is designed to last up to 10 years if properly maintained.
In this short video you can see how we installed the leading edge first with minimum stretch and full coverage. The second phase we installed the top piece, again with minimal stretch and complete coverage. Now the hard part! Seaming the two pieces together as tight as possible. This is something I've been working pretty hard on and I'm pretty happy that both of these mirrors were done first try, with a tight seam, which isn't always the case!
