There is a lot of things that are important to know as a car owner. Here are so care tips you may or may not already know.
• Battery Care: Disconnect the battery or run the engine for 5 minutes occasionally if you won’t be driving to prevent it from draining.
• Replace Wiper Blades Seasonally: Streaky wipers reduce visibility. Change them every 6-12 months for a clear view in rain.
• DIY Air Freshener: Place a jar of baking soda mixed with a few drops of essential oil to eliminate odors.
• Avoid Mechanic Scams: Test a mechanic’s honesty by asking about a part you know is fine. If they say it needs fixing, go elsewhere.
• Light Keychains: A heavy keychain can wear out your ignition tumbler over time.
• Remember Parking Spot: Take a picture of where you parked to save time and stress.
• Hot Air Trick: Cool your car quickly by rolling down one window and opening/closing the opposite door a few times to push hot air out, saving AC fuel.
• Get Good Directions: If lost, ask for directions at a fast-food delivery place; there drivers know the local area well.
• Safe Cleaning: Dilute cleaning products and apply polish to a cloth first, not directly on the car, to avoid paint damage.
• Check Tire Pressure Monthly: Under-inflated tires reduce fuel efficiency. Keep them properly inflated.
• Natural Window Cleaner: Use a mix of ½ cup vinegar and 1 cup water for a streak-free clean.
• Know How to Change Tire: Always practice using the jag lug wrench, and spare tire so you’re prepared for a flat.
• Keep an Emergency Kit: Your trunk should have jumper cables, a flashlight, basic tools, a first-aid kit, and water.
• Garage Parking Aid: Hang a tennis ball from the ceiling to touch your windshield when you’ve pulled in far enough, preventing bumper damage.
• Rotate Your Tires: Get your tires rotated every 5,000-8,000 miles to ensure they wear evenly and last longer.
