Friday Fuel: Don't ignore small fuel leaks.

I's easy to overlook a small fuel leak, especially if your equipment is still running fine. But what starts as a leaking seal, fitting, or fuel line can become a much bigger problem if it's left alone. A small leak can:
-Allow air to enter the fuel system, leading to hard starts, rough running, or no-start conditions.
-Waste fuel over time.
-Attract dirt and debris around the leak, increasing the risk of contamination when the system is serviced.
-Put additional stress on nearby components as the leak worsens.

When caught early, the repair may be as simple as replacing a seal, fitting, or hose. Wait too long, and that same leak could lead to air entering the fuel system, requiring additional diagnostics, replacement of more components, and increased downtime. All of which can quickly turn a small repair into a much larger bill. A few drops of fuel today could save you hundreds, or even thousands, in repairs tomorrow.

Friday Fuel: Your truck, tractor, or equipment doesn't like sitting any more than people do.

The component pictured came from a fuel injection pump off a tractor that had been sitting for an extended period with fuel left in the tank. Over time, moisture can build up in the fuel system through condensation. Because water settles below diesel fuel, it can begin corroding precision fuel system components. Left unchecked, that corrosion can lead to pump failure and costly repairs.

Before putting your equipment away for long-term storage, remember to:
✔️ Treat the fuel with a quality fuel additive.
✔️ Keep the fuel tank full to help reduce condensation.
✔️ Replace fuel filters if they're due.
✔️ Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for long-term storage.

A little preparation before storage can go a long way in protecting your fuel system and keeping your equipment ready for the next season.
