The LT trim was specifically designed to appeal to buyers who wanted the sporty proportions of the second-generation Camaro but preferred a quieter, luxurious touring experience over a bare-bones racer.
The cabin featured enhanced upholstery, simulated woodgrain accents, and full instrumentation. Many were heavily optioned with air conditioning, power steering, and upgraded 8-track or cassette audio systems.
The 1973 model year was notable for being the final year of the large, classic center-split front grille and un-mandated, slimmer chrome bumpers before federal safety regulations changed the vehicle's front fascia in 1974. Because of its blend of comfort and style, the Type LT was a popular and relatively premium model when new, accounting for about a third of total Camaro sales in 1973. Today, classic Camaro LTs are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. Values continue to rise for well preserved vehicles.
