What does a dyno graph actually mean when you're driving the car?

Here's the simple breakdown:

🚀 LOW END — Where the car starts building power and getting into boost.

💥 MID-RANGE — That initial “holy sh*t” feeling that throws you back into the seat.

🏁 TOP END — This is the GOLDEN RANGE. Roughly 4,000–7,000 RPM, and where you're spending a huge amount of time during a full-throttle pull.

Think about it…

You go wide open → pull to redline → transmission shifts → RPM drops → you're right back into the powerband.

That's why I tell people to stop getting hypnotized by one massive torque spike on a dyno graph.

That huge spike looks impressive…

But what happens AFTER the spike is what gets you down the track. 🏁

Launch gets you moving.
Mid-range throws you into the seat.
Top-end keeps the car PULLING.

Understanding the entire power curve tells you WAY more about how a tune will actually perform than one giant peak number.

Drivability. Safety. And the story behind the tune. Those will ALWAYS come first when I’m tuning your car.

Could I cheat certain limiters and make the dyno sheet look better? Sure.

I WON’T.

If getting around a torque limiter means disabling accurate transmission torque reporting, creating poor shifts, or putting unnecessary wear on the clutches, I’m not doing it just to advertise a bigger number.

Yeah… that one HURT just watching it. 😬

If you've ever hit something that doesn't move, you know how violent that sudden stop can be.

I learned that lesson myself after racing my brother in a golf cart, getting knocked off course, and going straight into a tree. 💀

The steering wheel slammed into my chest and it felt like I broke every rib I had.

So watching this driver hit a tree brought that feeling RIGHT back.

🙏 Hopefully the driver walked away okay

Crashes might make crazy videos, but at the end of the day, the car can be replaced. Hopefully the driver is alright.
