Big Island Used Cars LLC is really just the Perea Ohana -- Don, Michelle, Brandon, and Katherine. It’s what the company is today, what is was when we started it in 2007, and what it always will be. At our dealership customers only work with us, the owners - meaning that we'll handle every purchase with pride, professionalism and most of all, accountability. We’ve personally handled thousands of tr

ansactions with the very same people you’ll see in our local grocery stores, movie theatres, and down at the beach. If you're curious about our business, you can always call us or check the reviews section of our page. Or better yet, ask around! It won’t take long for you to talk to someone whose had a great experience buying from Don, Michelle, Brandon, or Katherine. We love this business, love our island, and love using our experience to help people choose the right vehicle for their budget and lifestyle.

Tropical Storm Lala is arriving tonight. Here are 5 quick things you can do now to help protect your vehicle before the wind and rain pick up.

But the most important one isn’t about your car: please don’t put yourself in danger trying to protect a vehicle. Don’t attempt to cross flowing water, and follow guidance from local authorities.

Cars can be replaced. You can’t.

Stay safe, Big Island. God bless. šŸ™

Well… the GOAT didn’t last long. šŸ˜‚

Someone’s picking up the Honda Fit today, and with the weather coming in we figured we’d get some fresh wiper blades on it before it leaves.

It only took me 19 years in the car business to become a beam-blade convert. Better late than never.

And if you’ve never changed your own wipers before, it’s easier than you might think.

Ready for the rain. šŸ¤™

God bless.

Thinking about everyone affected by what happened at Hilo Shopping Center today.

As far as I’ve heard, everyone is okay, and I pray that remains true.

For a small business, something like this can be devastating even when nobody is physically hurt. The bills don’t stop just because the doors can’t open.

If any of the affected businesses or someone close to them organizes a legitimate way for the community to help, please send it my way. I’ll gladly share it.

In the meantime, let’s remember to look out for our local businesses and the families behind them.

These are our people.

God bless.

I stand by it. šŸ˜‚

For a family 4Runner, I think a 3ā€ lift is about perfect. You get the look and extra clearance without making everyday life with it a pain—especially when you’re loading kids and car seats.

This one is even better: one owner, lifted, AND a third row.

Also… August is shaping up to be a pretty important month for Big Island Used Cars. šŸ‘€

Two announcements coming later this month. One big. One even bigger.

God bless.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what institutions are actually for.

Churches, businesses, organizations—we build them to accomplish something good together. But I think there’s always a danger that eventually preserving and growing the institution itself can become more important than serving the people it was created for.

I don’t have all the answers here. I’m still working through a lot of this myself.

But I increasingly believe that bigger isn’t necessarily better. Maybe the right size is the size that still allows us to give ourselves away in service of the people in front of us.

Just a Sunday morning reflection.

God bless.

The number of people who’ve trusted us to buy their vehicles lately has been incredible. Thank you.

I don’t believe every car or every person’s situation fits neatly into a formula. Sometimes the best thing we can do is sit down, talk story, be transparent with each other and see if we can make something work.

And even if I can’t buy your car, I’ll still do my best to give you some useful information while you’re here.

Just come talk story. šŸ¤™

God bless.

A good used car isn’t just one that drives well today.

It’s one that’s set up to serve you well for years to come.

Here’s one question I think every used car buyer should ask before signing the paperwork.

God bless.

A clean title is an important part of buying a used car—but it shouldn’t be the only thing you look at.

Lately I’ve been seeing more vehicles with histories that don’t match what many buyers would expect from looking at the title alone.

Before you buy, take the time to review the vehicle history and ask questions. An informed buyer is a protected buyer.

Stay safe out there, Big Island.

God bless.
