As a third-generation, family-owned Subaru dealership with more than 50 years of history, relationships have always been at the heart of who we are. We are incredibly grateful for the generations of families who have supported our dealership, and we believe one of the greatest ways we can show that gratitude is by giving back and supporting opportunities that help our community grow and thrive.

We were honored to partner with the Catawba County 4-H Steer Project and to play a small part in supporting these young people as they learn the value of hard work, responsibility, dedication, and perseverance. Programs like 4-H create experiences and lessons that reach far beyond the show ring—and we are proud to support their efforts.

For us, philanthropy isn’t about recognition. It’s about relationships, partnership, and taking care of the community that has taken care of our family and our business for generations.

Jim Armstrong Subaru Helps Local Classrooms Start the School Year Strong Through Subaru Loves Learning

At Jim Armstrong Subaru, supporting our community has always been about more than doing business here—it’s about investing in the people and families who make our community home.

As part of the Subaru Loves Learning initiative, Jim Armstrong Subaru was proud to partner with Mountain View Elementary School to help support local teachers and students as they begin another exciting school year.

Through Subaru Loves Learning, we had the opportunity to adopt classrooms and provide much-needed classroom supplies, helping teachers give their students the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed. Our team recently delivered the supplies to Mountain View Elementary and had the pleasure of visiting with the school’s principal while celebrating this special partnership.

Teachers do so much more than teach lessons from a textbook. Every day, they encourage curiosity, build confidence, inspire dreams, and help shape the next generation. We believe they deserve a community standing behind them.

You never know—you could be teaching the next doctor, business owner, teacher, community leader, or even the next President of the United States.

For Jim Armstrong Subaru, Subaru Loves Learning is an opportunity to say thank you to the educators who give so much of themselves to their students and to help make sure local classrooms have the resources they need.

We were honored to donate Subaru umbrellas to Mountain View Elementary School for their car rider and bus lines! ☔️💙

Join us in August and September by donating school supplies to help bless students and educators throughout Catawba, Burke, Caldwell, and surrounding counties. Donations are distributed weekly to ensure our schools receive the resources they need!

Some gifts provide comfort. Others provide hope.

On June 29, our team at Jim Armstrong Subaru had the privilege of delivering blankets to patients at our local cancer center as part of the Subaru Loves to Care initiative.

Each blanket was accompanied by a handwritten heart filled with encouraging words from members of our team. Simple messages like, *"Stay Strong,"* *"God bless you,"* and *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart... Know you are loved"* may seem like just a few words, but to someone facing one of the hardest battles of their life, they can mean everything.

A warm blanket helps bring physical comfort. A heartfelt note reminds someone they aren't facing their journey alone.

At Jim Armstrong Subaru, we believe caring for our community goes beyond the showroom. It's about showing up for our neighbors during life's most difficult moments and reminding them that there are people who care.

Every day, teachers walk into their classrooms ready to inspire, encourage, and educate. But too often, they're faced with the challenge of stretching limited classroom budgets to provide their students with the tools they need to succeed.

That's why programs like **Subaru Loves Learning** matter.

Recently, Jim Armstrong Subaru received a heartfelt thank-you from Viewmont Elementary School Principal Dyanne Sherrill, who shared how these funds will help teachers meet instructional needs despite ongoing budget cuts. She expressed that the support will equip educators with the resources they need today, creating opportunities for students tomorrow.

We believe education changes lives, and we're honored to partner with Subaru and AdoptAClassroom.org to help make a difference in our local schools. Supporting our community has always been about more than selling vehicles—it's about investing in the future of the children who will one day lead it.

Growing a Greener Future, One Tree at a Time

At Jim Armstrong Subaru, we believe being a good neighbor means investing in the future of our community. Through Subaru Loves the Earth® and our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, we're proud to help make the Hickory area healthier, greener, and more beautiful for generations to come.

In 2026, our dealership distributed **100 regionally appropriate trees** throughout our community, giving local families the opportunity to plant trees that will provide lasting environmental benefits for decades. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, these trees are projected to provide enough oxygen for approximately **400 people for one day**, supply water benefits for **892 people for one day**, and help prevent more than **73,000 gallons of stormwater runoff** over their lifetimes.

Our commitment didn't begin this year. Since joining the Subaru Loves the Earth initiative in 2025, Jim Armstrong Subaru has helped distribute **200 trees** across our region. Together, those trees are projected to prevent more than **107,000 gallons of stormwater runoff** while continuing to improve air quality and strengthen our local environment for years to come.

Trees do more than beautify our neighborhoods—they help cool communities, improve air quality, protect our water, and create healthier places for everyone to live. We're honored to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation and Subaru of America to make a meaningful difference right here in the Hickory community.

This past week, a longtime customer stopped by Jim Armstrong Subaru for service and brought along something truly special — a collection of photographs dating all the way back to 1984.

In the photos was their 1984 Subaru, packed up and ready for adventure with what appears to be an impressive stack of kayaks loaded on top. One of the photos even proudly says, “ALL ABOARD!!” — and looking at just how much they managed to fit on that Subaru, we couldn’t think of a more perfect caption!

But what made the visit so meaningful wasn’t simply the vintage photographs or the impressive kayak-hauling skills. It was the story behind them.

This customer and their family have been part of the Jim Armstrong Subaru family since 1984. For more than four decades, through different seasons of life, family memories, road trips, outdoor adventures, and generations of vehicles, they have continued to place their trust in our dealership.

They brought these photographs by while visiting us for service because they wanted to share those memories and thank us for the many years we have served — and continue to serve — their family.

The truth is, we are the ones who are thankful.

At Jim Armstrong Subaru, the Subaru Love Promise is about far more than selling and servicing vehicles. It is about building relationships that last. It is about being there for families year after year, generation after generation, and recognizing that the vehicles we care for often become part of the memories people carry with them for a lifetime.

From a 1984 Subaru loaded down with kayaks to a service visit more than 40 years later, this story is a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.
