Andy's Shop & Lounge

Andy's Shop & Lounge Not a shop, just a friendly place to visit. Sit a spell, have a beverage.

Well our weekend of fab is done. We got the spare tire mounted and the steel base for the rear seat delete is in. We even cut the wood floor for the deck. We only have a few weekends left and we will start taking to the trails for testing. Beast will be unleashed soon. Don't worry though there's already another project coming up for the shop and its going to be awesome! Stay tuned as AS&L steps it up a notch or two.

Mischiefmaker we might even try and come out to play in your neck of the woods, with our little liberty.

103⁰ Saturday, so we slow down a little. We do a little metal cutting here, cold snack, then measure a bit, then more cold snacks, then bring out the wood a cut it to fit, then cold snacks......hmmm maybe we need to bbq instead. You know, we really wanted to do more, but the dude abides.

Happy Saturday all, hope your not taking the day too seriously. Wally and I aren't.

Great times with my Lost JeepsSoCal friend.

Recently, while posting a comment on my Ram, I made a comment about wanting to cool my engine temps down a little in my ecodiesel. Soon after I get a message from my friend Chris Rock-Tech Offroad he says "replace the grill with a 2024 and up grill. According to Jeep engineers it offers 16% more airflow". What great idea, I ordered a new grill on the spot. I could tell the difference immediately. I frequently chit chat with several shop owners, who over the years have become friends. I often refer my friends to shops when they need help, Rocktech is one of them. I know your going to get good decent honest service, like many other shops I refer friends to. So, thanks Chris. I owe you one or maybe two.

Well, time to break out some wax and shine this show rig up. So do I call it a 2024 Honcho now????

It's the weekend, time to let some steam off! Hope you have some fun planned.

Tech tip: i've probably undone a few thousand of these stupid lock clips, and I've broken my fair share. Here is my tip for those stubborn ones. Use a good electrical contact cleaner that includes l**e to help flush the accumulated dust stuck inside the mechanism. Then keep a pick handy, gently pull the locks loose. Take your time and know that in the end it could still break. If it does, don't just push it together, learn some ziptie tricks to secure those plugs and fix with a new plug whenever possible. Most of those connections are very finicky and these aren't the cars of yesterday, miss a signal and your engine light will let you know, or worse.....it won't.

Our 2015 6.7 runs perfect, but knowing there is a mysterious grid heater bolt that randomly breaks on these things and destroys the motors was enough to motivate me and fix it permanently. I chose BD Performance | Manufacturing 's grid heater upgrade. One day to install, a few minor cuts and scrapes on my hands, but now I can drive with confidence and not worry about gambling with future destruction. Now I need BD to find a cooling solution for my Gladiator Ecodiesel.

Not a usual shop build, i mean it's a build, just i didn't do it in the shop. The frustration of picking the right first bottle is always a challenge. You never know what your gonna get. So, i finally decided to organize and tag all the bottles in order. If you know, you know.

One holiday weekend, three friends and a bumper. Sounds like the synopsis of a bad sitcom, but the bumper really looks great!

The original bumper was built by and they did a great job. Its is crazy strong and i myself have witnessed it punish many a rock on the trail. Memorial weekend was upon us and with all the work we've done though we thought a little change up was needed. We're going to retain much of the original so we don't change the "feel" of the Beast, but needed to tighten it up a little. Look close, we made lots of subtle cuts here and there. Takes a while to move 3/16s steel.
